Daniel was a huge help to me in the bulk section. I also appreciated his sense of humor and positive attitude. Betty at the checkout was also a gem. It was an enjoyable experience. They had everything I was looking for and then some. I love the organic sourdough bread from the bakery.

I'm always amazed that I'm able to do a week's shopping and pay the same price, or less, than in larger markets with few exceptions. Everything I need from beauty products and vitamins to beer and wine is available. The bulk aisles include products from soup to nuts, and are so much fun to peruse. Because turnover is quick, produce is consistently fresh and lasts longer than what I've bought elsewhere. Deli items are from Boar's Head, but there are other, less expensive alternatives. The produce department carries many organic items at the lowest prices I've seen. I like the fact that Sprouts now carries its own brand that's high-quality, and adds even helps me save more. The weekly sales are a real money-saver, and feature items from different departments. The store is consistently spotless and staff is friendly and cheerful. It's a small market so I'm in and out in no time. Holiday shopping is a breeze. There's plenty of parking and the store is conveniently located at the corner of Menchaca and William Canon. I've shopped there since it opened more than10 years ago. If you're tired of having to fight crowds, jockey for a parking space, stand in long lines, and walk endlessly in a huge store you owe it to yourself to shop at Sprouts. You're missing a unique, pleasant experience.

My new favorite grocery store. I used to think it's for hippies and vegans so I never went there. Then I became carnivore and discovered they have raw kefir, A2 milk, whipped cream without carageenan, dried fruit without added sugar, meat bars. Basically, if I can't find something super healthy in any health store, there's a high chance I'll find it in Sprouts.

Very excellent customer service very clean it's kind of like a whole foods but better in my opinion doesn't have all the eclectic items that are just straight foods that are good for you I have proper ingredients and the staff was very knowledgeable of the merchandise and their fields of expertise.

I went to the Manchacha location in South Austin today very early this morning and was treated so nicely today by two employees. I already told the manager how wonderful they are. I am a senior and not I so great at technology and the girl at the self serve check-out was very patient with me and helped me a lot. I am used to the employees being very nice here. In the meantime, I had accidentally hit my fingernail against the wheel of my car before I came in and the sweet employee told me to go to the back (as she was busily assisting another customer) and she sent another very nice male employee to meet me at the back door (for employees only) and he came out with some very sturdy bandages to put on my fingernail which was bleeding. I am used to very nice employees at Sprouts but was totally blown away by how nice the employees were and how they were very modest about it when I thanked them! Good employees make a difference!

I love walking into Sprouts and seeing vegan cookies right up front with all the other baked goods. And now they have vegan muffins!

Whether I’m going to the bulk bins (with all the nuts, seeds, grains and legumes), the produce section or the cash registers, I get to see all the new vegetable chips, fruit bars, different types of water, etc.

Today I walked in and right up front on the way to the bulk bins, produce section and cash registers, there was a mountain of fried pork skins, which to vegans and vegetarians look like bags of animal cruelty and suffering - at the very least. I spoke to the manager and told him how peaceful it is to walk in, choose lots of nice foods (which I do almost every day), and think nothing but nice thoughts about Sprouts.

Today, however, I told him how I lost my appetite when I saw the mountain of pork skins and asked him if they could move that mountain closer to the meat and cheese section. “Well it IS barbecue season,” he said.

Wow. Up till now, I was thinking of summer as watermelon and corn season. I don’t want to go into detail about how vegans and vegetarians perceive meat and dairy other than to say that we see immense suffering, terror and cruelty.

Sprouts lost my business today because I completely lost my appetite and had to leave. He said the display will be there all week, so I’ll be shopping elsewhere for a while.

I didn’t notice it until today, but I think I now know why most grocery stores don’t have their butcher section visible from the entrance. Stores who initially had them right up front probably couldn’t get enough customers through the door. Perhaps even meat eaters gag sometimes - and that’s why meat is often wrapped in opaque paper and why slaughterhouses are sealed off to the public like Fort Knox.

Update: Since writing this review for Sprouts, I noticed that I can’t get to the produce section of HEB without passing “mountain ranges” of cruelty. So I’m bumping up my review rating for Sprouts. I had one bad experience out of the dozens of times I’ve been there. I did talk to the manager before writing the review and he doesn’t seem to know much about why many shoppers avoid meat and dairy, but he’s just one guy who made one decision.

Now I can’t wait to get back to Sprouts - a happy place for me.

Second update: I walked into Sprouts today - the first time in over a week - and what did I see?...

A mountain of Goodness, Compassion and Kindness!!! Cruelty-free products from top to bottom and side to side: shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, sunscreen, protein powder and so much more! I guess I decided long ago that I couldn’t afford those things, but they cost way less than Whole Foods’ products and are comparable to HEB’s prices. With the 20% off sale they’re having now, I bought everything I mentioned in the mountain when I only went in there for tofu and fruit. Well done, Sprouts! And the flowers near the mountain of Goodness were so beautiful and cheerful!

Third Update: Be sure to read labels. The first ingredient on a Sprouts brand B12 supplement it lactose! B12 does not come from animals. Plus, 65% of the world's population is lactose intolerant. Why can't people leave animals alone, and why must manufacturers add harmful substances where least expected?

I like Sprouts but most of their stuff is higher priced than HEB.
But I can find specialty items such as Irish soda bread, Kaiser rolls, blueberry milk, bulk spices and treats.
I will occasionally buy their bacon or fish, but their chicken was so consistently bad that I quit ever buying it years ago.
They specialize in fresh veggies and are much better than Walmart and sightly better than HEB. Got a nice sweet cantaloupe today and often get sweet onions, garlic, blueberries, etc.
