Not everything is cheap here. But you get all kinds of Asian stuff. Better go to 30th street vendors

It was nice and clean. The people were friendly. I went shortly after opening at 4 am Saturday. It was pretty empty. There is a lot of variety and specialty items. I was looking for Harry but they do not carry it.

Sanwa is your one stop shop for all your tropical and seasonal and continental fresh food products. Departments include: dairy, farm produce, all type of seafood and meat, kitchen supplies, dry condiments, etc. Need to buy items for your restaurant? You can in buy them in wholesale here! It’s pretty cold inside so make sure you wear something to keep you warm! Opening hours: Mon - Sat 4.30am to 7pm and Sundays 8am to 5pm.

I would describe this place as a restaurant supply store that is open to the public . They close early on the evening but are open very early in the morning. It’s “warehouse style” and you can buy in bulk. They have a wide selection of vegetables and in-season fruits as well as extensive meats and seafood. They also tend to cater towards different cultures foods not just American. Many Asian, Hispanic, Caribbean, and Middle Eastern foods and spices.

A friend told me about this place when we went to Thinh An Kitchen. The two not exactly close -:)

Most items there are bulk but they also sells to individual shoppers like us. Two young ladies dressed to the T with thin high heels, an interesting sight.

The 5lb Korean red chili pepper flakes is $23. The Turkish bread is yummy, so is the orange pepper habanero

So many awesome finds & such a huge space! I love the quality & wide range of produce (i.e several types of bok choy, some exotic fruits & veggies) and some great deals.I also really love that they have bulk containers of all types of spices - common & uncommon! I definitely will be coming back.

I went to this market today and I have been coming to this market for a long time. I came over from an hour away and usually have a decent experience for the quality and the price.

I saw a meat product that I wanted to buy to add to my dogs food that I cook. I saw that it had a good price and decided to buy 10 packets. For the quality and price. When I went to check out at the register the machine would not scan the item. The other cashier had the same issue with another customer buying the same thing. The cashier called over a man who identified himself as the manager ,after I had waited for 10 min. He called another person that worked over in the meat department. I waited another 10 min and the manager decided he could not sell the product for the price that was listed. He told me he had to reweigh each item and sell me at the price it was supposed to be. The original sticker was .99 cents a pound. The new price he wanted me to now pay was $2.54 a pound.
I asked if I could have it for the price that it was listed for. Because usually if stores make mistakes they will give it to the customer as it was listed and just change it after. He said "No, Sanwa market does not work that way!" I am very disappointed with the way this was handled and a waste of my time. Normally stores take full responsibility when a mistake is made. It's not about paying one price or the other, it's about taking responsibility for the mistake that was made.
The guy then told me to go and get another cart to put my other items in so he could use the original to bring the product back to the meat department. WOW! REALLY!?

Such a horrible experience and lack of customer service!
(I don't know if it was because the color of my skin and the hat I was wearing. In today's world you never know. )
